On Thursday 17 August 2023 Worplesdon Parish Council tidied the scruffy planters in Fairlands Ave, which had become an eye-sore.

The Clerk and Finance Officer, assisted by Cllr Brigitte Ahier, weeded, added compost and bark chippings, and finally treated the railway sleepers with forest green wood preservative.

The total cost of materials came to just over £100.

Worplesdon Parish Council intends to take over maintenance of these planters.  Responsibility for the trees will, however, remain with Surrey County Council.
