Vacancy – Stoke Hospital Almshouse

Stoke Hospital, also known as the Hospital of William Parson, is a Grade II Listed
building dating back to 1796. It is situated in Stoke Road, between Onslow Road and
Queen’s Road, with Guildford Town centre only a short walk away. There are bus
stops immediately outside, and local shops and eating places close by.

Each flat consists of a living room with adjoining kitchen area, a bedroom and a
bathroom, with a shower. The flats are located in three blocks on the ground or first
floor, each block has a stair lift installed.

The Maintenance charge is currently £120.16 per week, ( To be reviewed for January
2020) which includes gas, electricity, water, window cleaning, gardening and
connection to the 24 hour emergency communication system.

The governing rules of the charity stipulate that to qualify as a beneficiary of Stoke
Hospital, applicants usually need to fulfill the following criteria:

• Aged over 50
• Able to live independently
• Connection with the county of Surrey
• Limited financial means
• Preference given to ladies over the age of 55 who have lived in Guildford.
